About Greenpoint Cidery

Greenpoint Cidery makes handcrafted, natural cider and folk wines, coming to you from Hudson, NY via Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Greenpoint Cidery is an ever evolving project that is a tribute to the land where I live and work.  With apples as the base, I use fermentation to explore its history, and its mercurial beauty and bounty.

I grow local wild apples I discovered and grafted into my orchard, support local farmers growing American fruit, and forage fruits, herbs and flowers from the land surrounding my home, all of which make it into my naturally fermented ciders and wines. In so doing, I hope to help shift the frame of what we value in wine and in agriculture, both on our land and on our tables.

Greenpoint Cidery is also a one-woman project by me, Nika Carlson: owner, grower, and fermenter.

Throughout 2022, filmmaker Jamie Kinnard followed along with me throughout the cider season as I foraged, grew apples, and bottled cider. This short film is the end result.
